Of all the herbal programs I have looked into, this one is unique in that it focuses on herbs for mental health and incorporates so much, from the energy of the plants to the interaction of plant and human physiology. Jon has extensive knowledge and experience with herbs and is also a down to earth, fun teacher.

Every month we have gotten to meet the plants where they live in the wild. I’ve been surprised and delighted by experiencing the plants in this context, that they do commune with us. I’ve been growing herbs in my garden for years and buying them from the store, but this has been a different experience. Each place we’ve gone to has felt like a secret gem tucked away in the Portland region. I’ve had a deep sense of being a part of an ecosystem- that sense of connection to place, plants, and the other people in the group.

After gathering herbs, we’ve made medicines from them back and Jon and Kate’s cozy home… not just tinctures but all kinds of fun creations. The plant meditations each month have all had something different and valuable to teach. Experiencing plants with a group of lovely people has opened me up to possibility for healing myself as well as increasing my desire to share what I’m learning with others.
